Churnr Inc. ("Churnr", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Churnr website (churnr.ca) and mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Canadian provincial privacy legislation.
By using Churnr, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our services.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: Email address, display name, and authentication credentials when you create an account.
- Spending profile: Monthly spending estimates across categories (e.g., groceries, dining, transit) that you enter in the ChurnrScore wizard. This data is used solely to calculate your card recommendations.
- Card portfolio: The credit cards you indicate you currently hold. We store card identifiers, not card numbers.
- Rewards balances: Loyalty program balances you optionally enter for tracking purposes.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, session duration, and interactions with the app via anonymized analytics (Google Analytics / Firebase Analytics).
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
- Location: Approximate location (city-level) inferred from IP address for the merchant map feature. We do not collect precise GPS coordinates without your explicit consent.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
If you sign in via Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, or other data.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- To provide and improve the ChurnrScore, card recommendations, and portfolio optimization.
- To personalize your experience and display relevant content.
- To authenticate your identity and manage your account.
- To send service-related communications (e.g., score updates, product changes).
- To analyze usage trends and improve our platform.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We never sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your information with:
- Service providers: Firebase (Google Cloud) for authentication and database hosting; Vercel for web hosting; analytics providers. These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental regulation.
- Shareable results: If you choose to share your ChurnrScore via a public link, only your score summary and recommended cards are visible. Spending inputs are never included in shareable results.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Anonymous auth session data is retained for 30 days after last activity. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest.
- Firebase Security Rules restricting data access to authenticated owners.
- Server-side scoring engine — sensitive calculations never run in the browser.
- Regular security reviews and dependency updates.
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use a session cookie (__session) for authentication. We use Firebase Analytics for anonymized usage tracking. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect functionality.
8. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
As a Canadian resident, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Withdraw consent for data processing (subject to legal or contractual restrictions).
- Request deletion of your account and personal data.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
9. Children's Privacy
Churnr is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will promptly delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on our website. Continued use of Churnr after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
